The Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly on Monday, 27th July 2026, commissioned a 2-storey 4-unit Kindergarten (KG) block with a 10-seater WC toilet facility for the Darul Hadith Islamic Basic School at Darkuman.
The project forms part of the Assembly's commitment to improving access to quality education and providing conducive teaching and learning infrastructure for all schools in the Municipality, including mission and Islamic schools.
In his technical brief, the Municipal Works Engineer, Ing. Awuah Asare, indicated that the new facility, designed to address infrastructure deficit and overcrowding, was funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
The commissioning ceremony was graced by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Musah Kalamu Adamu; the Municipal Coordinating Director; the Municipal Director of Education; Heads of Departments; traditional leaders; leaders of the Zongo community in the Municipality; Assembly Members; management of Darul Hadith Islamic School; parents, pupils and residents of Darkuman- Alafiya.
In his address, Hon. Adamu Musah Kalamu stated that education remains a top priority of the Government of H.E. John Dramani Mahama and assured that the Assembly will continue to invest in educational infrastructure across the Municipality. He urged the school authorities to ensure proper maintenance of the facility to prolong its lifespan.
As part of the commissioning, the Assembly also donated dual desks and chairs to fully furnish the new KG block and enhance teaching and learning.
On behalf of the school, the Headmistress expressed profound gratitude to the Government and the Assembly for the intervention, noting that the new block and furniture will greatly enhance academic work and improve enrolment.
