The Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly marked the 69th Independence Anniversary Parade at the Methodist University, Dansoman. This year’s celebration, themed “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope,” brought together several distinguished personalities from within and beyond the municipality. Notable among them were the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Hon. Ewurabena Aubynn, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Musah Adamu Kalamu, Assembly Members, Traditional Leaders, Heads of institutions, and Members of the public.
Adding a unique and historic touch to the event, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Kalamu Musah Adamu, wore a public school uniform popularly known as “kokonte.” The gesture symbolized patriotism and solidarity with students, while highlighting the importance of education in national development.
A total of 18 schools participated in the parade and marching competition. Odorkor Basic School emerged as the overall winner with 131 points, while Odorkor 7 Basic School was adjudged the Best Cadet Performer.
In his address, Hon. Kalamu Musah Adamu encouraged students to remain focused on their education, study diligently, and take advantage of the opportunities available to them as future leaders of the nation.
The Municipal Director of Education, Ms. Harriet Lomotey, expressed appreciation to the Assembly for its continued support to the education sector and urged students to take their studies seriously in order to achieve success.
The celebration served as a reminder of the importance of unity, patriotism, and collective responsibility in building a prosperous and hopeful future for Ghana.
