A total of 2,633 students are participating in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) across 12 designated centres in the Ablekuma North Municipality.
The candidates include 1,237 boys and 1,396 girls, drawn from 13 public and 70 private schools.
To mark the official start of the examinations, the Municipal Chief Executive, Kalamu Musah Adamu, visited several BECE centres within the municipality to motivate the candidates and wish them well. He also admonished them to avoid all forms of examination malpractice.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Director for Education, Ebenezer Perry Ofori, assured that despite the ongoing nurses' strike, medical personnel have been deployed to all centres to handle any emergencies. He also emphasised that adequate security measures have been implemented to ensure a safe and smooth examination.
